This summer's toobing

...is going to be replaced by a nice ride down the river. I am so excited that Heather should be booking the cabin soon for all the couples, we all missed last year because of all being fat preggos. This is how I imagine our trip will look. I wish I had someone to credit for this masterpiece, but alas I do not. I can thank Kiley for the classy forward though:

How could we not have the time of our lives? Anyway, countdown to toobing has begun.

Rise to the Challenge

It is that time of the week, weekly challenge day. This weekend has been too jam packed, running form one obligation to another that I couldn't start until like 7 tonight. I try to make myself do the challenge every week so that I at least get one LO done. So here it is, Matthew and Dylan together. Mom showed me this pic that she and Jim took (actually, I think I took it on their camera because they are actually holding them). Anywho, it is quite cute and they look about the same size despite a 7 1/2 month difference.

BTW, can't wait until I can post the awesome creations that came out of last night's painting session at the Mad Potter on West Grey. We have decided though that in the future, we are staying loyal to Mudpies in Kingwood. I did a Blue Dog Piggy Bank for Dylan (or a "camo pig" as the leacherous MP assistant kept referring to it...) and I can't wait to see it.

Shoutout to the Chocolate City

I was able to dig up this awesome pic I have of the superdome revamped as a chocolate kiss for when Hershey's takes over this place as part of Nagin's Chocolate City.

To hold everyone over, I had this other NOLA pic:

January Babies

Had several January birthdays and birthdays lead to birthday cards, here's what I made for Bryan, Alisha, Richard and Grandma

Look forward to a post very soon with those Mad Potter masterpieces...

Followup on the Soldiers

I finished my cards for the soldiers, only 99 since Michael's really jacked me with that one. I am not gonna buy another pack just to get that even number. Michael's: You are on warning. One more mistake, and I don't know what I am gonna do.

Total Basketcase

Thought I'd have another go-round with Liz's colour challenge, so here it is. I was making a basket of goodies for little cousin Matthew for Christmas and while I was putting it together I put Dylan in the basket. Could he be cuter if he tried? Probably. Especially if he tried to be cuter by peeing in a toilet.

Anywho, I used the old April 04 MM brown backside and the Aug 05 Gin X. I was excited about the Gin X because I bought the cutest little Gin X coasters. Btw, I looove foam stamps right now.

Send our troops valentines

My business specialist Tiffany forwarded me an email where one of the business bankers was gathering music and coffee creamer (weird as it sounds) to send to his brother and his fellow troops in Iraq. Tiffany told me that they had all sent Christmas cards and I figured after making all those 150 Christmas cards for work, that I could get together 100 Christmas cards. I have 50 finished at this time. Right now I am using the designs below:

And by the way, I am irritated because I keep buying these 50 packs of blank cards and envelopes and they keep coming up short like 1 or 2. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is a PITA and is going to screw me over for the 100 I need this round.

Another one bites the dust

Some days the challenges move me in the right direction and then some box me in. For some reason, I couldnt get this one right. The good news is that Dylan is sleeping and there is at least peace in the house. The bad news is that the rain won't go away and I don't know what we will do for dinner, sad.

Trying to get my groove

And failing miserably. I woke up excited to do the weekly challenge because it is my favorite every week, and it turned out to be using green and brown. A perfectly good challenge, but I cannot unwind from my 50+ hour work week knowing that it all starts again tomorrow. I will sit to scrap and every second that my scrappers block affects makes me all anxious because I know it is another minute closer to work and then that makes me anxious that I am not properly taking advantage of every precious second. Add to that a whiny half sick baby and I want to "go down the river."

Anyways, here's my crappy version of the challenge. I am going to try some others now and hopefully I will chill the eff out.

Bow down, Westside!

Yup, we are throwing our gang signs here. It is a little "Westside Connection,"thank god for that album or we would know no gang signs at all. Jim looks quite comfortable, doesn't he. We know how to party.

We play hard

This is the aforementioned page I didn't finish and went on to the weekly challenge instead. This is the January sketch but I am using old paper. Didn't use Jan paper, but I needed a break from it anyway. Will this paper ever be used up and out of my stash? One can only hope

Calm before the Storm

Whoa, a dry spell. I hadn't scrapped since Monday until Friday when I made a card for Ayden. I suck and forgot to take a pic, sad. Then I was starting on something yesterday but wasn't done by this morning when the challenge was posted. The weekly challenge basically gets me out of bed Sunday morning (and Dylan, but you know what I mean). So I went straight for it and got this.

My real creative block is being limited to KNK kits only. Looking back, I assumed I got that ribbon from the shopping area of KNK but I am not even sure. Oh well. It says "before the" in the circle, but the lighting was too bright when I took the pic.

Miss Bliss

I did another "Friends of Dylan" LO, this time for Madison Trahan. KNK Jan 06 strikes again, this one for Liz's five product challenge...

2005 in review

Whoa. I got a little carried away with the weekly KNK challenge; Liz had us do a 2005 year in review using a KNK kit, so I used the January 2006 kit and 31 stinkin photos. Took all day to get all the photos together and printed, but now I have this:

Join the Glee Club

This is for the DW 2006, they are picking a challenge a week from the calendar and this is for week one. It is basically about the things that make Dylan laugh and I used the KNK Jan 06 kit for it (K&Co Neopolitan)

Out of the "Closet"

Yay, I am almost out of the Chloe's closet line of papers I had from the TRW kit! I am trying to use up a ton of what I have before I hit the online stores again, and this has been sitting in my collection taunting me. Wasn't a favorite, but for reason they are the ones Iwant to use up first. Oh well.

Just more cards that will either be valentines or evreyday cards; I need to start focusing on some other occassions to make cards for...

DNA replication gone well

Against all odds, we combined Jason's DNA and mine and came up with something good. Would hate to see what would come out of the genes that ended up on the cutting room floor. I scrapped tonight in reponse to Gina's Childhood challenge on KNK, which was to have a pic of Past Mom and Past Dad next to Present Baby, hence laughter for future generations to come.

Paper's are Chloe's closet and I would like to point out that I am the booty baby and that if we were doing a butt comparison, mine would win. Dylan and Jason both have very flat bum bums.

Hustle and flow

Check me out, I am working on cards. I thought I'd mess around with some magenta ink, I am usually scared of ink in general and never venture past brown or black. They are as a result nothing special, but they are five down for 2006. Holla. These are for Valentine's Day I guess, and the pp's are Urban Lily.

Anti-resolutions

Shannon posted a challenge on the KNK boards to do a LO on resolutions and I did this. Dug up an old Urban Lily kit, which if you could actually see the papers is perfect for the subject because it says sickningly optimistic things like "be you," "take time out," - it's okay, you can throw up in your mouth a little from the overwhelming sweetness.

The title is "to fix in '06" and the journaling says: "everyone is always trying to fix what is wrong with them with the resolutions they set, but i don't want to fix a darn thing. i would like to focus on the good things and take them up a notch. here are some of the good things to keep going - being a good mom, being a good wife, trying to cook, being healthy, loving my friends and family, staying scrap happy, treating every moment like it could be the last, finding a way to laugh at it all"

Last day of vacation

Today was my last day of vacation before the big bad bank gets me back in its death grip. We did very little, but eventually took a walk at the end of the day to try and feel the burn. I did go to Mom's to get the rest of the New Years Day feast which has now made it to my tum-tum because it was yum yum.

Here's a so-so LO I did today, saw a cute inspiration in the current Scrapbooks Etc. on p 40 by Lee Anne Russell that I pretty much destroyed. They can't all be masterpieces, but it did let me use some very old paper. I am trying to avoid my kits because I keep needing them for challenges and find that I've used them up. I am going to challenge myself to use the other crud I have and then in the end hopefully it will all be gone.

The pics are just Dylan in a white trash camoflauge outfit that looks straight out of the hunting section of Walmart, but actually came from an HEB in Victoria. We bought it for the sheer trashiness and because we thought it would be worth a laugh. It was too.

Happy New Year!

It's a new year, 2006. I wanted to start getting back into blogging, I've started and ended too many to count. So maybe this is the year that I get it going on. DH says that this Dooce chick and her husband make enough blogging to stay home all day, I wish! I'd be lucky to find anyone bored enough to read it!

Anywho, for NYE we went to the Keller's and had a fondue party with them, the Trahans and the Harris'. It was fun times, our third year in a row with them. Highlights included earwax on the table and the most fantastic food I've had in awhile.

The next morning was Sunday and we went to my mom's and Jim's for New Year's dinner, the traditional corned beef, cabbage, blackeyed peas and other foods guaranteed to ensure our health, prosperity and luck in the new year. Another good time.

I went home and got cracking on my weekly challenge on the KNK board, it was using a KNK kit and 15 buttons. All I saw was the 15 buttons and I was off, and this is what I came up with (used Basic Grey Sweet Pea Jack, some junkitz buttons and primas from the last swap):

After looking at Bre's post which stated that she had done the same thing, which was to focus on using 15 buttons and not bother using a KNK kit, I realized my error and did another using the April 2005 Arctic Frog pp's and more of the junkitz buttons (and wouldn't you know, a couple swapped Primas too!):

A great way to start the year...
